After 16 years of working with Indrotech David Cudmore has decided to move on.

David you were an essential part of Indrotech and played a major role to our growth over the years. From our humble beginnings, your contribution, hard work and determination has resulted to where we are today. During our years together we have seen Indrotech evolve into an important part of the many industries that we now service.

I personally would like to thank David for his loyalty and expertise not only as one of the team but as a close friend; I will for ever be grateful.

Remember the story we did not so long ago about the Schenck CAB 920? Well, there’s an interesting update. A few weeks ago, we had an issue with the software; this is normal, as things often go wrong with any software. This could be devastating to us as it is downtime. The worrying thing was that, due to Schenck being an international company with machines all over the world, the turnaround time for repair and fault-finding can sometimes take up to a couple of weeks.

Downtime can hurt any business.

Knowing the impact to our business of downtime, I got on the phone with the Australian Schenck office and asked what we need to do. The usual process would be to submit a ticket and wait in line to be serviced. The Australian manager said that he will talk to Germany to see what they can do. I was a bit concerned as we didn’t know what the problem was, and 2 weeks of downtime would really hurt our customers’ orders.

Remote access and diagnostics.

At about 6 pm, I was about to pack up when I received a phone call. It was the Schenck head office in Germany asking about the issue that I had just reported only 2 hours earlier. I walked down to the machine, and they were already remotely accessing the software to run a diagnostic on the issue. The inspection found that it was indeed an easy fix that was done within 20 minutes. So, by 6.30 the machine was back to normal and ready to go for the next day’s schedule.

Schenck’s Speedy response

I was shocked at how fast they rectified my service ticket whilst I was still on the phone to Germany. I asked why they acted so fast when normally it could take up to 2 weeks, and their response astounded me.  They said that they had come across the story that we had written and posted online, and were so pleased with what we had said about their product that they wanted to thank us.

You never know who is watching.

Just goes to show that in this current time, everyone appreciates the simple niceties that we all can offer. Schenck really appreciated the promotion and goodwill that we had given, and we certainly appreciated the quick service that we got in response. Also, when you post something online, you never know who will see it.

New H4 Balancing Machine

Although progress is a positive thing for our industry sometimes it comes with a level of sombreness. We recently upgraded our old Hofmann 3 plane driveshaft balancing machine as it had seen better days. Like a loyal old friend this machine had been with us for many years and making the upgrade was particularly sad for us. As it had a long story with Indrotech and indeed the industry as a whole. It was a very sad moment for us but at the same time a necessary action.

The reason being that the old Hofmann was originally set up by our well known and industry respected Mr. Keith Sherwood. Originally acquired from the RAAF many decades ago, Mr. Sherwood modified this machine, converting it into a driveshaft balancing machine. Keith Sherwood, who was also the father of our very own Felicity Tivendale, our Accounts Lady, was one of the industry’s legendary characters.  So much so he was invited by Schenck to tour their production facilities in Darmstadt, Germany in 2010.

Unfortunately, the Hofmann no longer responded so we were forced to upgrade. We came across a H4 dedicated drive shaft 3-plane balancing machine. This one came with a CAB 700 measuring unit which is sufficient for the work that it does.

H4 Driveshaft balancing machine

Our 4-plane driveshaft balancing machine has now been upgraded with the CAB 920 measuring unit. The CAB 920 of which is an upgrade of Schenck’s much-maligned CAB 940. The CAB 940 was never really appreciated in the industry, fortunately for us it served us unconditionally for 15 years without a hiccup. Even though Schenck mentioned it was one of their biggest disappointments we found it to be an absolute gem! Something that truly perplexed Schenck.

The new CAB 920 is an innovative further development of the legendary CAN measurement systems from Schenck. The CAB 820

The Schenck CAB 820 measuring unit gives us the ability to have the latest technology in the balancing industry. It has high tech digital processing of measured data for high accuracy as well as numerous software modules for universal and special balancing jobs.

Accurate Programming

The software behind the CAB 820 is a lot more forgiving than the previous Schenck models. To be precise it is more like the CAB 690 in its simplicity and its accuracy. No bells and whistles it’s a straight balancing program that does the job you want it to do.

More capacity and perfection

The best thing about this upgrade to the H4 industrial balancing machine is that it allows Indrotech to be more accurate in producing the perfect balancing required for your balancing needs.  As usual we supply each job with its balancing reports but instead of wasting paper printing them out, we email them directly to you. How’s that for technological advancements.
